ONE Exclusive Interview - Sung Hoon

Tell us more about yourself. How did you get started in the entertainment industry?
Before this, I was going to be a professional swimmer but that plan got shelved. I've always wanted be an actor and through the help of my agent, my dream came true.

You were cast as the male lead in your first drama 'New Gisaeng Story', how do you feel about that? Did you feel pressurized to perform well?
I was really very honored and wanted to do my best. As it was my first drama and I did not really know how to act, it sort of helped me to be less nervous.

What attracted you to your role in 'New Gisaeng Story'?
I liked that my character is very bold and confident.

What are the similarities and differences between Ah Da Mo and you?
The character hides his true feelings and pretends to be nonchalant which is very similar to my own personality. But I do not treat women frivolously like the character in the drama.

What was most challenging while filming 'New Gisaeng Story'?
It is very difficult for me to pick just one memorable scene as it is my first time acting. Every scene in the drama is very fresh and new. The drama itself was very challenging and memorable.

Which was your favourite scene in 'New Gisaeng Story'?
The scene where I was crying out and apologizing when Saran chose to be in another man's arms.

Were there any funny incidents during filming?
There was a scene where Saran and I had to slap each other. Because we had no experience with that, we had to re-do it many times!

How is it like working with Lim Su Hyang? You had an underwater kiss scene with her, were slapped by her and had an emotional crying scene with her, which of these required the most NG takes?
The underwater kissing scene was easy for me because I am a swimmer! At the beginning of the drama, there was a scene where I forced Saran to go to the hotel with me and she slaps me. The weather was very cold so we really had a hard time filming that scene.

Which Korean actor/actress would you like to work with?
I want to work with all the great actors and actresses in Korea.

What are some of your current/upcoming projects?
I'm a rookie and I know I have a very long way to go. I will polish up my acting skills and when I'm ready, regardless of the roles, you will see me in dramas or movies.

Have you been to Singapore and Malaysia? Do you have anything to tell your fans in Singapore and Malaysia?
I have visited Singapore before with my family but I have yet to visit Malaysia. I really want to visit when I have a chance. Thank you very much for this interview and I sincerely hope to see my fans in person. It will be an honor to meet them.
